Senior Technical Leadership, Amplified by AI

A named human CTO takes ownership of your engineering function. FoundryCTO gives that CTO the operating environment to do it well: continuous context, AI monitoring of engineering and delivery signals, and a record of every consequential decision.

The AI gathers the evidence. The CTO owns the judgment.

FoundryCTO is being built in stages. Today the CTO function is delivered by a human CTO using the FoundryCTO operating model. AI monitoring and integrations are in development with design partners.

The gap

Who owns your engineering function?

Most growing companies have people who build software. Far fewer have someone accountable for the technical decisions behind it.

Developers, agencies and founders each decide within their own area. Nobody owns the whole technical system on behalf of the business, so significant investments are committed before anyone qualified has challenged them. What was decided, and why, lives in someone's head and leaves with them.

Delivery progress, technical risk, cloud and AI spend and customer commitments sit in disconnected tools. The information exists. The judgment connecting it to the business does not.

A CTO function, not another engineering dashboard.

Engineering analytics tools measure activity. FoundryCTO is built for the person accountable for what that activity means: whether a commitment can be met, whether spend is producing value, which decision needs to be made now, and what it was based on.

FoundryCTO is not an AI CTO, and it does not replace your tools. Your repositories, ticketing, documentation and cloud platforms remain the source of record. FoundryCTO connects the context above them, for a human who is accountable for it.

What FoundryCTO gives the CTO

Built for the questions the business actually asks.

Can we meet this customer commitment?
Is technology spending producing value?
Where are we exposed if someone leaves?
What needs attention now?
FoundryCTO supports the work
The human CTO leads the work
Maintains context and assembles evidence
Interprets evidence and resolves contradictions
Monitors engineering and delivery signals
Evaluates significance and weighs trade-offs
Tracks decisions, risks and commitments
Sets technical direction and priorities
Checks agreed practices are being followed
Owns recommendations and escalates material risks
Drafts analysis, reports and follow-ups
Approves conclusions and communicates them to the business

Continuous context and visibility

A coherent view of priorities, engineering activity, delivery progress, architecture, risks, commitments and ownership. Every review starts with what changed, what is unresolved and what was promised already assembled. Founders and executives see where engineering stands, with the evidence and the CTO responsible for each assessment, without becoming the technical expert themselves.

Decisions and commitments

Evidence, alternatives, reasoning, ownership and expected outcomes preserved for every consequential decision. Commitments stay connected to the work required to deliver them and to the result actually achieved.

Engineering capability and governance

Current practices assessed against what the business needs, not against maximum process. Improvements become owned initiatives with expected outcomes and review dates. Agreed practices become routines: what should happen, how it is verified, who owns it, when it is reviewed.

Institutional memory

The company's technical context preserved beyond any individual CTO, engineer or delivery partner. An incoming leader starts from what was decided, why, what remains open and what needs attention, instead of reconstructing it from tickets and memory.

  4. Act
  5. Measure
  6. Learn

↺ and againEach review builds on previous evidence, previous decisions and actual results, not a blank page.

Built around real CTO decisions

The decisions FoundryCTO is built to make repeatable.

Before a $100k+ build

A founder had nearly chosen a development vendor. Architecture was defined before implementation and the vendor interviews were run against it. The leading vendor was rejected before contract, and milestone payments were tied to evidence.

After a lead developer left

A real-time analytics product was left with its core evaluation framework broken. The system state was mapped, the framework restored, and core quality checks improved from 70% to 90% passing, meeting the agreed target.

Turning a working product into a platform

In one summer an AI voice platform gained a second product line, billing that collects payment before costs are incurred, and the technical foundation for selling to regulated customers.

What exists today

Delivered by a human CTO now. Software in stages.

Delivered now

By a human CTO using the FoundryCTO operating model

  • Status, priorities and roadmap
  • Technical risks and decisions, with the reasoning preserved
  • Commitments and improvement initiatives
  • Executive reporting and an operating rhythm

Much of this is maintained today through the client's existing systems and the CTO's own processes.

In development

With design partners

  • Integrations with delivery, code, documentation and communication tools
  • Continuous context gathering and proactive monitoring
  • AI-assisted analysis, reporting and decision memory
  • Governance checks against agreed practices
  • Agent-assisted execution within the CTO's mandate

Planned integrations include GitHub, Jira, Confluence, email, Claude Code and OpenAI Codex.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Is FoundryCTO a platform or a service?

FoundryCTO is the platform being built to support human CTO leadership. Fractional CTO Office is the FoundryCTO service: a named, accountable CTO working on the FoundryCTO model, available today through Syndicode. You can engage the service today. The platform grows around it.

Can the AI make decisions on our behalf?

No. AI gathers evidence, prepares analysis and monitors agreed conditions. The human CTO remains accountable for recommendations and technical decisions within an agreed mandate. You retain budget authority and final business decisions.

Are the AI features and integrations available now?

No. Today the CTO maintains status, roadmap, decisions, commitments and risks using your existing systems and the FoundryCTO operating model. AI-assisted reporting, integrations and proactive monitoring are in development with design partners.

Can we use FoundryCTO with our own CTO?

That is the intent. FoundryCTO is being built for any accountable technical leader: in-house, fractional or interim. Early access is open to CTOs and service companies alongside Syndicode's delivery.

What is Syndicode's role, and is this a way to sell us developers?

Syndicode is the first delivery partner, and Fractional CTO Office is available through it. The CTO can work with your internal developers, Syndicode, another partner or a mix. Where Syndicode is a potential or existing delivery provider, that relationship is disclosed in writing before the engagement starts, any delivery proposal is made separately, and you are free to seek other bids.

What access will you need to our systems and data?

Access to your team, partners and systems is agreed as part of the CTO's mandate. FoundryCTO uses only selected, approved evidence. Access to your data and any secondary use require explicit agreement.

Serious Technical Authority. Amplified by Software.

FoundryCTO exists to make high-grade technology leadership accessible earlier, and to give the CTO the operating environment required to exercise that responsibility without losing context, accountability or control.
